I walked in on my furry friend,
whose purring gave away
the fact that he had something new
he'd found, with which, to play.

Without a look as I came in,
he carried on his game.
It was the first time he'd ignored me
when I'd called his name.

As curious as he, I tip-toed
over to his box,
to take a look and see if I
could find out what it was.

To my amusement, at the joy
he'd found in his new toy,
it was a lentil from my soup.
What a funny little boy.

He cuffed it and he licked it up,
then dropped it at his feet.
He chased himself in circles,
and he pretended to eat.

I picked it up; the purring stopped,
and so I put it back.
And once again, the box was filled
with a purring, furry cat.
